    3. Anyone researching ARMSTRONG in Bath County? I have a James Armstrong, born 1750-1760 Virginia, died Nov 1830 in Bath County, KY. There is confusion on the name of his wife... or wives. One source says his first wife was Mary THOMPSON and they married 20 June 1787 in Botetourt Co. VA. Another source says he married Mary BOLLAR, also, I believe in Botetourt County. Some believe he married a second time, possibly to a MOORE. James had at least the following children: Sarah Anne, married Isaac Newton CASSITY Mary Frances, married Jonathan Cassity John, married Levina KINDER Jane, married Barnabas Kinder Robert, married? Eleanor, married James DUVALL Russell, married Barbara ALFREY James may also have had sons named Andrew and Samuel. Linda http://www.gendex.com/users/LCL4/madkat

    3. This list is WAY too quiet <grin>.... let's have a roll call. I am searching for information on JOSEPH McKINNEY. Joseph married Virginia Jane Carter on the 29th of Jul 1819. It seems Joseph died young... 4th of August 1821, we believe he died in Bath County but not sure. I would like to know where he is buried. His burial site is yet unknown?? Joseph had two sons, Joseph Reynolds McKinney and Shelton McKinney. Shelton and his offspring settled in Morgan County in and around West Liberty and descendants live there to this day. Joseph R.'s clan settled in the Clay Lick, Union Station and Yale areas... later in Rowan County as well. My Grandfather was Elbert "Bert" Walker McKinney of Morehead, Kentucky. He married Amy Lee Bailey of the Bull Fork Baileys in Rowan County. My allied genealogy lines are listed below.... Let's wake this list up...!!! 3. Hi Phyllis, Good to see your name again! I f you remember, you and I both have STULL as a common surname we're searching for. I was interested to see that you list Andrew Stull's wife as Millie SAVAGE. That is the first time I have seen her name mentioned. My STULL is Moses H. STULL(b. 1820, Jessamine Co.KY) who is thought to be a younger brother to your James Andrew STULL. I have been listing Mose's mother as Martha Crawford. Can you share what you know about your STULL-SAVAGE connection? 3. Hello, I have just subscribed to this list. I am looking for any information on my great-grandfather, David Wilson Bethel (he also went by 'Wilson Bethel' and 'Willis Bethel'). He lived in Bath County only briefly, from about 1890 to about 1892, and he had to leave abruptly since he was implicated in some kind of horse fraud scheme. When he first moved to the area he was agent for the railroad at Preston, then he moved to Owingsville and practiced medicine in partnership with Dr. J. T. Catlett. He lived as if married with a woman and small child (the child's name was Mary -- I don't know the woman's). I have this much information thanks to two letters from Ben F. Perry, then the postmaster for Owingsville, to my great-grandmother, who was then trying to track him down. I realize this portrait of my ancestor is not very positive, but those are the facts, and I am committed to finding out more about him. Any information concerning D. W. Bethel or the other people mentioned above, or information concerning sources that might yield information, would be greatly appreciated. He probably made the local newspaper due to both his medical practice and his transgressions, but the microfilmed papers I purchased from U. of Ky. did not have anything relevant for the years in question. Thank you for any help. Sincerely, Charles Caldemeyer

    3. -----Original Message----- From: SMARCMAR@aol.com [mailto:SMARCMAR@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 9:17 AM To: jsorrell@cinci.rr.com Subject: Cassity Family Bible for sale on E-bay Jim, I no longer subscribe to the Bath Co. list, but wanted to pass this information along to the list. On Ebay, there is a family bible for sale for the Cassidy family from the Mt. Sterling, KY area. The following is part of the description: "The bible contains several bonuses that were saved within its pages. There is a marriage certificate dated October 13, 1887 for the marriage of W.E. Cassidy and Linnie I. Boyd in Mount Sterling, Ky. Part of the document appears to have been lost, apparently from tearing at a fold over the years, but all of the relevant information remains on the document. The bible also contains three funeral notices, the first of which is dated August 1, 1889 for Mrs. R.M. Johnson. M.M. Cassidy is listed as a pallbearer. The second notice is dated December 25, 1892, and is for Louis Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Cassidy. The third notice is dated June 12, 1902 for Henry Pickrell. W.E. Cassidy and T.D. Cassidy are listed among the pallbearers. Also included are two photographs of women, no dates or names, however the larger of the two has a studio name of O.H. Bryan, Mt. Sterling, KY imprinted on the front. The women appear to be dressed in attire of the middle to late 19th century. There is also a page included of the “Illustrated Lesson Paper, dated August 2, 1896, Volume XVI, Number 29. It contains short quotes and stories related to the bible and Christian lessons. A lock of a woman’s hair also rests in the bible." The number on Ebay for this item is # 1536564720. The item goes off auction May-18-02 17:39:24 PDT. At the time the high bid is at $39.00.
