Thornton Waddie Snelling was born 27/3/1847 in Bath Co, KY, son of Toliver and Elizabeth Neiland Snelling. Thornton was the second child and first son of their 11 children and was named after Toliver's brother, Thornton, whom we think died young. Toliver was the son of Rev. Benjamin and Mary "Polly" Sinclair Snelling. Although not directly related to Thornton (my husband descends from Toliver's oldest sister, Lucinda, I would love to compare Snelling notes with you.
