    3. Ok I just got motivated to put this list up on the Web and I hope that it is as helpful as the 1891 Middletown City Directory that Cyndie Plant put up last week. I am putting this list up because my Grandfather Emory Young Was the first one called for service from Middletown for this war. However he did not serve, being exempt because he had a wife and two small children. This is an Honor Roll of the Men from Middletown Ohio That served in World War One. The paper was dated 6 April 1918. Commissioned Officers: Capt. Harry T. Wilson (Aviation) Capt. Calvin W. Verity (Ordnance) Capt. A.G. Goldsmith (Inf.) Ensign T.W. Jenkins (Navy) Lieut. A.J. 1. [KYBATH] Update on Hannah---- My Surnames
    2. Been awhile so I thought I would repost families I am working on. Have heard from a researcher that Augustine and Hannah WELLS McCarty [yes Hannah WELLS!] had a son Madison born 1814 that went to Burke Co., Ga. She is supposed to have Bible records. Anyone have family that went to Burke co., Ga or know of early Wells family that Hannah may fit into? Joanne My direct lines [Earliest known ancestors] Solomon STATON born 1792 Va. He is son or grandson of Thomas Staton born abt 1740. Thomas is from Rockbridge or Amherst Co., Va., possibly. Malinda MC CLAIN m. Solomon Staton 1821. She was daughter of Hannah -------Mcclain McCarty Norris. Hannah was adm of estate of Augustine McCarty. From family records and hearsay the four McCartys in Bath Co., James, William, John and Andrew Jackson were brothers and sons of Hannah. Hannah was born in SC abt 1786 and was married to a McClain who supposedly died on the trip to KY. She then married to Augustine McCarty and had a large family. Last marriage was to John Norris but no known children of this marriage. Oliver Perry Staton m. to Martha Fielder, daughter of William Fielder and Elizabeth Sharp, m. 1820 in Madison Co., Ky. James McClain born 1789 Union Co. SC married to Sarah------ by 1805. Daughter Francis married to Andrew Jackson McCarty [see above] David Williamson born 1792 Pa., just appeared 1812 in Bath County. Probably to work at furnace where most of the cannon balls were made during War of 1812. Married to Sally Griffen dau of Gordon Griffen and Katherine Kissinger of Greenbrier, [West] Va. Absolum Williamson, son of above married to Julia Ann Epperson. She is probably dau of Robert Epperson and {the widow} Mary Epperson both from Virginia.

Iowa wants to close its public record access as Illinois has already done! Many of the people from the East went to Iowa and you may need to obtain some of their records, if not now, then perhaps in the future.
