A really good researcher, Sandy Wainwright, has a new book out in the last few months called The Road to Cantrell Creek. The book is huge, contains tons of pictures, great stories and genealogies. It is bound beautifully to last also, hard back, large size. She can be contacted at [email protected] Tell her Cousin Sharon sent you! Trying to get started on my Garrett line. Bath Co.or Fayette Co. are said to be a good place to start by some of my family. All I have at this point is: Burton "Buck" Garrett born abt. 1872 married Kit Little. Burton and Kit had two sons Frank Garrett and Burton Cecil Garrett b. 1898 in Lexington. Other possible names in this line could be Jack, Henry, Aaron, Americus, Sherman, Walter and Nailock. The only thing I have found so far is Flemming Garrett with a son of Aaron. But no ties to my Burton. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks jim pennington
Looking for information on parents of JAMES KNOX b.c1808 VA d.c1885 Bath Co, KY m.3-1-1829, Bath Co. KY to Sarah Stephens daughter of William and Mary Cunninghan Stephens. William was from VA and Mary from NC. James mother was named Catherine, b.1789 according to Bath Co. census. his father is unknown but was from VA. and apparently died before 1830. Catherine is shown living with James in 1850, and in 1830 a female age 40-50 is living in household, age fits Catherine. If anyone has any info I would appreciate hearing. Thanks for anything Vearl
I am hoping someone on this mailing list can help me because I am certainly confused. I am researching the Cantrells and have my line as: Ann Cantrall and Edward Ridgeway (4th g-grandparents), Levi Cantrall and Frances England (5th g-grandparents), Joshua Cantrell and Ann Graham (6th g-grandparents), then either Joseph Cantrell, Zebulon Cantrell, Richard Cantrill, and Richard Cantrill (as I have seen on one website) or John Cantrell, Joseph Cantrill, Richard Cantrill, Henry Cantrell, and William Cantrell as I have seen on the LDS website. Can you help me determine which line Joshua Cantrell is descended from? The Carmi Cantrell book would seem to indicate that the Joseph, Zebulon line is correct but I have seen plenty of comments about that book being incorrect. Thank you. Lawrence County, Pennsylvania (early 1700's), Bath County, Kentucky (late 1700's to early 1800's) and Sangamon County, Illinois (early 1800's on). They apparently immigrated from England in the 1600's. I believe that they came to Jamestown, Virginia. Bill Scroggin Chesterfield, Missouri
I am interested in getting additional information on my 6th g-grandparents, Stephen England and Anna Jane Harper, and their ancestors. I have the following information on the England family, working backwards: Stephen England (1773 - 1823), David England (1754 - 1801) m. Lucy Hodges, William England (1754 - 1801) m. Elizabeth Lee, William England m. Mary Anderson. All I have on Anna Jane Harper is her vitals (1772 - 1823). Please let me know if anyone can help fill in the blanks. Thank you. Hi, Your John Newman, married my 4th or so great aunt Rebecca Becraft. She was born in Montgomery Co. Kentucky and married John Newman on May 15, 1809 and died 1839 in Decatur Co. Indiana. Her parents were Benjamin Becraft and Elizabeth McDaniel from Frederick Co. Maryland. I'd like to know more on your Newmans and will be happy to share what I have on Rebecca and her line. ttyl. Janis
Hi, I just found out that John Newman's father was a John Newman Sr who lived in Owingsville, Bath Co., KY. He married ?. He then later went over to Decatur Co., IN and married again to Rebecca Becraft on Apr. 24, 1834. Based on my searchings, it does appear that there were Becraft's also in Bath Co. It could be she was also from the same county? My John Newman Jr. married Gillean Pugh in Decatur Co. She supposedly was also from KY. Was she from Bath Co. also? I was wondering if anybody may know more. Thanks. Ellen Baker
Clem Perry m. Mary Belle Flora c 1897. They had a daughter, Emma, who married a McCarty. In the 1960's when I saw them, they were living in Texas. I don't know if Emma was born in Tx. or Ky. I understand that Clem Perry moved to Texas after the war (WW1?). Clem's father was Beverly James Perry of Sharpsburg and Bethel. Kay
Kay, I have a Perry J. McCord, b: 1870 KY d: 1958 Fayette Co., KY married to Malissa Biddle in 1892 but no McCarty's. But, that does not mean they are not out there. Can anyone help us with a Perry marrying a McCarty? Margaret
