Name: John Sidun Residence: Houston TX Born: 17 Jan 1916 New York City, NY Died: Monday, 13 Aug 2007, Houston, age 91 Formerly of Glasgow and New Jersey Son of the late Charles and Margaret Sidun Oldest of eight children. Educated in Cartaret, NJ, received undergraduate degrees in education at Rutgers University, attended NYU and Cornell for post-graduate studies. Served WWII and the Korean Conflict; received a victory medal from WWII. During his time in service met his wife, Evie Biggers Lyon on a blind date; married for 41 years until her death on 30 Sept 1984. In NY, taught chemistry at Hillsdale High School for over 20 years before entering the research field at Allied Chemical as a micro-analytical chemist and continued his love of chemistry through membesrship in the American Chemical Sociesty. He and wife joined the Madison Presbyterian Church in 1955 and became involved as a teacher, deacon and elder. Upon retirement and move to KY, he beame an energy consultant and an active member at First Presbyterian Church of Glasgow. He served on the Property Committee. Enjoyed traveling, reading, promoting a healthy lifestyhle and growing organic vegetables, especially! tomatoes. Survivors: Two children: Jane Carol Malczewskyj of Houston and John David Sidun of Brick, NJ. Grandchildren: Christine, Katherine, Nicholas and Eric Sisters: Margaret, Marie and Irene Brothers: William and Cyril Sidun Numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Memorial services: Friday, 24 Aug 2007, 4 pm, First Presbyterian Church of Glasgow under direction of A F Crow and Son Funeral Home, burial beside his wife at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
