For your information as I've mentioned slightly in passing before. Next Saturday (Sept 15th) I will be presenting a seminar entitled "Genealogy 101 - Finding Your Roots and Branches" at the Mary Wood Weldon Library, 107 W College Street in Glasgow. This is going to be a "hands on" seminar. >From 9:30-10:45ish I will be going thru the basics of doing genealogy with a presentation of slides and oration. I'll be covering how to get started, equipment needed, playing detective, census records, name spelling variations, Bible records, newspaper morgues, County Clerk's holdings, marriage records, wills, deeds, book citations and the internet. At 11 am, we will be meeting for 1/2 hour to an hour at the County Clerk's office on Main Street (center of the block across from the courthouse) for a hands-on look at what is available there for the researcher. This will include looking at the old deeds, tracing some deeds, how to use the index books, the marriages, wills, etc. After a lunch break from 12:30-1:30, we will be meeting at the Cultural Center at 200 Water Street (KY Pants Building) for a tour of their genealogical facilities and records there. I will finish my presentation at the Cultural Center and we will adjourn at 1:30 from this location. If you are in the area and can join us, please do. Pre-registration is not necessary and it's open to the public. This is what I'm working on this week that's keeping me quiet!!!
