In his 1841pension application for service in the 22nd Regiment of United States Infantry in the War of 1812, my GGGGrandfather, John WOOTEN, stated that when he left his home in Cumberland County, Ky. in about 1815, he had "moved to GREEN RIVER; staid (sp) there about three years, lost his wife, and then come to the State of Ohio." I have been told that "Green River probably refers to the Green River. I do not believe so. I do believe that there was once a community called "Green River" somewhere in Southern Kentucky. I have recently found several mentions of "GREEN RIVER" on the KYBARREN mailing list. I hope these listings refer to the "GREEN RIVER" that I am looking for, and that someone on this list can tell me where it is located.
