I just wanted to let you know that I just removed a post from the Barren Co board (not the list) that said that a gentleman had found some recipies in the attic and if anyone wanted a copy, to write him. I assume he was legitimate, but there was a fee required for copywork. I have a little leniency in posts to the lists, but rootsweb allows no post to the board for advertising books, services, etc. This is a matter of great discussion believe me! I don't believe the gentleman was trying to "take" anyone, the fee was reasonable ... but it would be good to remind you. Posts made to our lists (or any rootsweb list) are subscribers. If anyone posts who is not a subscriber (a lot of spam you never see!), the email bounces back to me and I make the decision to send it through to the list or discard it. 99.99% of the time it's discarded because it is just trash. But - anyone can basically post to the boards. There are no subscribers like on the list, as long as they sign on, they can post. I don't know them. I just monitor the posts, adding surnames to queries if they forget. So always be more cautious with offers. I try to not let them slip through, this one did. Again, no condemnation per se but just wanted to explain why I removed the post if you had read it and been interested.
