Name: Elizabeth Akers Caroland [photo] Residence: Webster Groves, MO Born: Glasgow KY Died: Wedneday, 6 June 2007, age 90 Widow of the late George Caroland Mother of: Alice (Perrin) Stifel and George Western "Wes" (Dianne) Caroland Grandmother of: Elizabeth "Liz" (Brad) Lyons, Rebecca (Nick) Spear, Brandon Caroland, Shannon (Cindie) Caroland and the late Jason Caroland Great-grandmother of: Bailey "B J" and Summer Lyons and Collin, Morgan, Hannah and Eli Caroland Sister of: Virginia Downing, Marjorie Mazur and the late George Homer Akers Jr Sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. Born and reared in Glasgow, always considered herself a Kentuckian although she lived out of the state most of her life. A true Southern lady, known for her positive outlook, sweet, gentle manner, independent spirit, devoted to family and church. Loved traveling in Europe, touring at least 8 times with family members. Loved reading, helped instill this love in her family. Supported her husband in his ministry with the Christian Church 9Disciples of Christ) until his death in 1979. Moved to St Louis in 1952; active member of the Union Avenue Christian Church. Served in many leadership positions including Christian Women's Fellowship. Sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, active in the Interpreters/Homebuilders Class; participated in PEO, served as secretary of her local chapter.
