I believe her to be the daughter of Lewis Settle, but am not certain. She married my ancestor James Majors (Magers) in 1838 in Barren County, and they had sons Seden and Wesley. Here is what I find about the Settle gunsmiths: There is a KY Highway Marker (No. 687) on Kentucky Highway 252 in Barren Co., some five miles S.W. of Glasgow, KY dedicated to Settles Rifles. It has a crossbar made of two rifles, and the following inscription: "Settle Rifles, prized by frontiermen now are collectors items. They were made by three generations in Barren Co., Kentucky starting in 1800, Wm. Settle made flintlocks at Rocky Hill. A son, Felix, had shops in Glasgow and Roseville. Felix's sons Simon and Willis, made rifles in Glasgow and Hiseville and in Green and Logan Counties. Name of maker and place are on all; some are dated."
