    3. Don, I have many Campbell connections in KY - after checking the ftdna Campbell project, I see only one haplogroup H; most all others are the expected R1b (Scot). With this "rare" haplogroup for the name, I would suspect an adoption or other explanation for unexpected genetic makeup. This happened in another surname project, when a member tested J2 haplogroup, the only one in this project primarily of Scots. I had helped this family genealogist with the lineage, and found the oldest ancestor had changed surnames when he got off a ship 6 generations back. The family admitted this was the story - he had run away at age 15-16 and changed his name. The "travellers" assume/use certain names depending upon their "clan" and location, usually to avoid a more suspicious name. This is a nightmare to those of us who are verifying proof documents back a couple of centuries. Ydna - the ultimate genealogy tool.
