Name: Joseph P. "Joe" Young, Sr. Residence: Auburn KY Born: 28 May 1924 Barren Co KY Died: Saturday, 17 Nov 2007, Medical Center of Bowling Green KY, age 83. Son of the late Charles Lovell Young and Bernice Gertrude Moon Young WWII Army veteran, served under General Patton with the 3rd Army as a truck driver with the famous Red Ball Express, hauling supplies to the front lines in Europe. Member Auburn Baptist Church since 1959 where he served as a deacon, member Gideons International, Auburn Masonic Lodge No 374 and American Legion Post 258. Came to Auburn in 1959 and established Young Funeral Home. Also operated the ambulance service for Auburn and surrounding communities. Later one of the coordinators of the Auburn Ambulance Service furnishing EMT's and paramedics. Co-founder of the Auburn Nursing Home, now known as Auburn Healthcare Facility. Survivors: Wife of 60 years: Patsy (Shirley) Young Son: Joey Young (Jennifer) of Russellville KY Daughter: Debra Garmon (Kerry) of Bowling Green Sister: Anita Thomas (Gayle) of Park City KY Two brothers: Wayne Young (Edna Jean) and Marvin Young (Eleanor Jean), all of Glasgow Four grandchildren: Rebecca and Daniel Garmon and Addie and Alexa Young. Preceded also in death by: Two infant sisters: Helen Elizabeth and Wanda Naomi Young Sister: Ruth Marie Barton and her husband, Wayne C Barton. Services: Wednesday, 21 Nov 2007, 1 pm, Auburn Baptist Church, Brother Gary Hughes, Brother Steve Hussung, Brother Ron Wells and Brother Kinnith Morris officiating. Pallbearers; Gary Steenbergen, Robert Fuller, Wade Barton, Churck Thomas, Michael Ray Elmore, Kerry Garmon, Daniel Garmon, Ray Tew and John Shirley. Burial Auburn Cemetery.
