He was the son of William Reeves and Rhoda Duke (maiden name lacks documentation) of South Carolina, in the area of Camden. William, Sr. was the son of John Reeves and brother to Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Reeves who died in Davidson County, TN in 1824.
