This sounds *interesting*! If you are on another rootsweb list such as Warren, Hart, Monroe, Metcalfe, etc. please forward this to those lists. Sheila Rush, Manager, Old Mulkey Meeting House State Historic Site, 38 Old Mulkey Park Road, Tompkinsville, KY 42167, 270-487-8481 sent the following notice: The 9th US Infantry (reenacting unit) is coming back to Old Mulkey June 14th & 15th! Their working Civil War camp is complete with soldiers and civilians. Unit drills, discussions of weapons, Sunday service, and a three round volley at the Tompkinsville National Cemetery (a.k.a. Old Soldiers Cemetery) are always part of their visit. But this year they've added a unique and rarely represented element to the weekend ... a Civil War wedding! This is the first REAL wedding of members of their unit, opened to the public for educational purposes. Period attire is not required to attend the wedding. However, period clad individuals will be seated first. The reception will feature period music and dancing. Also, *weather permitting*, wet plate photography will be demonstrated. For a complete schedule visit http://www.parks.ky.gov/calendar/details/civil-war-living-history-camp-wedding/21436/ For additional information contact Sheila at the number shown above. Note by Sandi: There was a write-up on this wedding in the Glasgow Daily Times. The couple met as performers in this re-enactment.
