But there was a handwritten note included which looks like Cran[e]. I written up my reasoning on this at http://jonesandrelated.blogspot.com/2014/04/looking-closer-at-crain-family.html. There's no Cain family in Barren, Edmonson, Warren, Hart counties with a Mary Alice born in 1878. Until I can see some other records, I don't know if my hunch is correct.
