While in Frankfort, KY last week at the KY Department of Libraries and Archives (KDLA) I had time to look through a lot of records. This is a marvelous institution with a fabulous staff where is housed many of the original records from all the Kentucky counties. They also have a nice library which includes books not found in other locations. One of the records I found was the "Index of Confederate Pension Applications" compiled by Alicia Simpson, Archivist, 1978 and 1988. The following will show the name of the Confederate soldier, the date the pension request was received and the application #. If the soldier was deceased, the wife's name will be shown with the husband's name in parenthesis. The maiden name of the wife is also shown.
