I think google etal must be showing that the answer to my puzzler this week is churches. Very, very, very seldom in KY ... in fact in dozens of church books I've transcribed, you're lucky to hear of a death, let along a marriage or a divorce. I'm looking for a "group" (for lack of a better word) outside of the county where the divorce took place ... who had the power to grant divorces if they weren't granted in the county ... and this group is based in one particular town in KY.
