    3. Researchers, I know some names are more difficult to research than others. In spite of that, I am looking for information on JOHNSON. Anyone care to join in? Actually I am looking for the parents of William Whitman Johnson, born November 19, 1830, in Butler County, Kentucky, married Harriet Ann (Pattillo) Gillmore on January 16, 1855. Harriet S. Pattillo, the daughter of Davis Jackson Pattillo and Mahala D. Smith and the widow of Mr. Gillmore, was born May 28, 1835, in Kentucky. Harriet had married Mr. Gillmore four years earlier, but he only lived three weeks. It is said he was caught working in a field by the rain and due to the exposure had a relapse of Measles and died. We found William Whitman Johnson in the 1860 Warren County, Kentucky, census records. Family No. 1135, page 125, shows that he was a miller then. Family records indicate that the first child of William Whitman Johnson and Harriet S. Pattillo was a girl born October 31, 1855, who did not live. Polly Ann Johnson was a sister to William Whitman Johnson. There were only the two children when the mother died and the father remarried and had three boys and two girls. We do not know any of the names at this time. Children of William Whitman Johnson and Harriet S. Pattillo are: Mahala Jane Johnson, born October 4, 1856, married T. H. Bunch, November 28, 1873. Laura Bell Willie Bird Martha Duke Pocahontas (Willie Bird) Johnson, (no kidding, that is her name) born August 11, 1858, married Thomas J. Hayes, December 16, 1875. Julia Ann Johnson, born March 17, 1860, married Thomas L. Hendrich, May 29, 1878. The 1860 census record shows this child as Naomi. William Thomas Johnson, born April 18, 1861. He was known by the family as Uncle Tiddler, or Uncle Tid. Harriet R. (Hattie P.) Johnson born January 8, 1864, married John A. Jackson, September 6, 1882, at Dodd City, Fannin County, Texas Alice B. Johnson, the child of William Whitman Johnson and Harriet S. Pattillo was born March 16, 1866, married Nathan Merideth, January 5, 1888. Sarah Ellen Johnson, born February 14, 1868, married W.H. Phillips, April 14, 1889. She was known by the family as Aunt Jimpie. Davis Jackson Johnson, born March 1, 1870, married Lula Burnett, November 14, 1894. Trentie Duke Johnson, born December 1, 1871, married George W. Hayes, October 2, 1889. Leonard Alfred Johnson, born March 24, 1874, married Florence Rabold, December 30, 1903.. Lois Elizabeth Johnson, married Dr. Cecil O. Garton, son of Martin Braswell Garton. William Whitman Johnson died December 20, 1929, at Sunnyside, Warren County, Kentucky. He was buried at the Samuel Hays Burying Ground. I have yet to locate said cemetery. Thanks, John

    3. In the 1910 census for Warren Co., KY, Bristow Dist., William W. Johnson, age 79, was living with his daughter, Willie B. (Johnson) Hayes, age 51, and her husband, Thomas J. Hayes, age 58. If you need the details of that census, let me know. In the 1920 census for Warren Co., Bristow Dist., Thomas "Hay" and Willie are living next to son Trenton and his wife, but William W. Johnson is not in their household. You mention that he died in 1929 and is buried in Warren Co., KY, so I was trying to find William's death record on several databases that I have access to, but no luck yet. I thought it might give you more info. Did William and Harriet marry in Warren Co.? I'm assuming they did, since I find Harriet "Patillow" with her parents (Davis and Mahala) in the 1850 census for Warren Co., KY, enumerated 2 August 1850. Here's my theory for the parents of your William W. Johnson............... In the 1850 census for Butler Co., KY, there is this family, and it appears that the wife is significantly younger than her husband, and also there is an age gap between the children, but there is a Polly Ann and a William Johnson, and you said that your William Johnson was born in Butler County, Ky. So, try this and see what you think.........: 1850 census, Butler Co., Ky, 20 August, dwelling 330: Thomas Johnson, 48, wheelwright, b. unknown Lucinda Johnson, 26, b. KY William Johnson, 19, wheelwright, b. KY Polly A. Johnson, 17, b. KY Carrolton Johnson, 10, b. KY Nancy Johnson, 9, b. KY Elisabeth Johnson, 6, b. KY Lucy Johnson, 5, b. KY Martha Johnson, 3, b. KY John Johnson, 1, b. KY 1. The age of the wife Lucinda would indicate that she was a 2nd wife. 2. Clearly there is a 7 year gap between the ages of William and Polly before the next child, Carrolton, was born, which would indicate to me that Lucinda was a 2nd wife, and her first child was Carrolton. In the 1860 census of Butler Co., I don't find William Johnson that fits in that county. Who knows? Could be he moved to Warren Co. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John D.
