Carpenter born 6 Dec 1833 in Kentucky is my 3rd great grandfather. He and his sister Amanda J were living with an Andrew Carpenter and his wife Elizabeth and their children Mary, William, Elizabeth, Nancy, and George Ann in the 1850 Barren County census. I was told that James was a first cousin to Andrew and that they descended from the Zimmermans that settled in Virginia in 1717. There is a John Carpenter that came later with his Brother William Carpenter in the early 1720's that they may also be descended from. Can anyone help me sort this out?
