I have never tried researching slaves before, but trying to help someone. From: Joseph Lock, father To: Polly Lock, daughter Type: Gift of slave Hannah and other goods Date: 3 February 1800 Source: Barren Co Deed Book A, p. 35 Is there a way to be able to trace this slave named Hannah after she was gifted to Polly Lock? I ask because the person I am in contact with traces his lineage back to a slave named Hannah of Barren County Kentucky 1800. We both suspect Polly Lock likely sold this slave Hannah to someone else, what records or books should be researched to try to locate this slave? The descendants of Hannah apparently use the Jewell surname today which maybe a clue I am not sure. Thanks for any suggestions Don
