In reference to Doug Moore's post about death certificates being available through ancestry.com for those who hold membership. Yes, I am aware that the death certificates are on line. However, I have worked for some time now trying to get the accurate certificates. Many on ancestry.com are out of order, in the wrong year, in the wrong county and a lot of the names are clobbered beyond recognition. They are transcribed by people who do not live in Barren Co and are not familiar with the names. In scanning their records, which are in basically alphabetical order, names were transcribed wrong and thus not searchable; babies were shown either with no name, stillborn, child, male, female, etc. I went through every one of them, 151 in the segment of A-K and 137 in the L-M and the African American deaths. Some names are still unreadable, but I double-checked them all. So, I do encourage you to use ancestry.com - but be aware that there are errors.
