GLASGOW - Elsie Elizabeth Polson [photo], 87, of Glasgow, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Barren County, she was a daughter of the late D. J. & Lida Smith Shipley. Her husband was the late Willard Polson. Mrs. Polson was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she had served as church secretary, Sunday School secretary and was the Assistant Secretary of the Louisville Methodist Conference. More recently she had been employed with the Barrn County Court Clerk's office. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Polson and wife Emily of Glasgow; a grandson, Johnny Polson of Glasgow; a granddaughter, Linda Rucker of Mount Washington; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Kate Polson and Will and Jay Rucker; and a sister, Ruby Pearl Hunt and husband Cecil of Glasgow. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alma (Paul) Duvall; a brother, James (Idell) Shipley; and a great-grandson, Max Polson. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Monday Sept. 19, 2011, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.
