GLASGOW - Elsie L. Berry, 80, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her home in Glasgow. She is survived by her husband Ephraim A. Berry of Glasgow; two sons, John Berry and wife Connie of Glasgow, and Mark Berry of Glasgow; one sister, Frances Boston and husband Lloyd of Edmonton; one brother, Harold K. Lawson and wife Marjean of Orlando, Florida; one grandson; Joshua Berry and wife Monica of Glasgow; and one great-grandson, Gabriel Berry. She was preceded in death by her parents, JOhn Thomas and Lillie Blanche Lawson. Born in Metcalfe County, soon after high school she began work as a lab technician at the prestigious Howard Clinic in Glasgow. Following marriage, she traveled the country and the world as the wife of an Army aviator, including nearly two years spent in diplomatic service in Southeast Asia where Ephriam served as the Assistant Army Attache in Vientiane, Laos in the late 1950s. Upon returning home to Metcalfe County, she attended Western Kentucky University and was subsequently employed by Barren County Mental Health at their residential facility, and later founded and directed the Infant Stimulation Program. She was an avid bowler, a sport she continued to enjoy until after her 80th birthday. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasow. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. through 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
