Name: Olga Elizabeth Lane Norris [photo] Residence: Glasgow KY Born: 17 Feb 1909 Metcalfe Co KY Died: Friday, 13 May 2011, Barren County Health Care in Glasgow, age 102 Daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Neal Lane Member First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years; served as a youth director and participated in FUMN Circle for many years. She attended schools in Metcalfe County and earned degrees and certificates from Western KY University, George Peabody College and the University of KY preparing to teach social studies. She began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, taught for two years in Dexter, MS and continued teaching for 33 years at the Glasgow Junior High School. During WW II, she was a volunteer nurse's aide at T J Samson Community Hospital and later became a L.P.N. She was an active member in local, district and state levels of education, serving for a time as president of the Glasgow Education Association and representing the third district of KY Education Association on the Teachers Educational and Professional Standards Committee. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, a member of local, state and nati! onal Retired Teachers clubs, local and national AARP chapters, Delta Kappa Gamma, Senior Citizens Club and the Glasgow Garden Club.
