Graduated from the KY Military Academy, the University of Kentucky and Indiana University where he received a doctorate degree. His professional career included teaching, administration and coaching, as well as clinical counseling. He was a member of the Rotary Club, president of the Sun City Center Community Association, president of the Men's Club of Sun City Center, chairman of Operations and Security, and served on the Resident Advisory Committee. He was also active in St. John the Divine's Episcopal Church; was an avid lawn bowler. Survivors: Wife of 65 years: Marjorie Mitchell Clarke Children: Debbie Prada (Jesus) of Albuquerque NM, Charles Clarke (Linda), Cathy Clarke (Paula) of Seymour TN and J Mitchell Clarke (Lynne) of Dallas TX Grandchildren: David, Javier, Sara, Candace, Meghan, Katherine, Mitchell, Christian and Nicholas Great-grandchildren: Gianna and Saffron Memorial services were held in Sun City Center; Celebration of Life service 21 May 2011 in Glasgow.
