Glasgow - Sammie Joe Spann, 67, died at Vanderbilt Medical Center on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Born November 23, 1943 in Glasgow, Kentucky, the Barren County native was a farmer for most of his life in Austin, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Ollis Owen Spann and Mary Ethel Bunch Spann. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ollis Owen (Junior) Spann and grandson, Adam Thomas Wilson. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 47 years, Burnell Bush Spann; three daughters, Kim Marshall and her husband Greg, of Paris, Kelly Milan and her husband, Bill of Fountain Run, Karen Wilson and her husband Jay of Bowling Green; a son, Joseph "Joe" Spann and his wife Jill, of Maryland; two sisters, Bettie Bray and her husband, Jim, and Joan Spann; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Shayna and Chris Marshall; Kelsey and Cassidy McCoy; Andrew and Samantha Wilson; Trent and Katie Spann; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Caney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Etoile.
