    3. Thanks to Wendy, most of the mystery is solved. This leads to another piece of the puzzle which is yet unsolved. If the Curds and Quigley's - Black families - lived in the Hiseville area (per the 1900 census), only one funeral home was operating in Glasgow at the time - Hatcher and Saddler. They did black and white burials (as does A F Crow & Son Funeral Home); the black funeral home, Watts, did not open until the 1940s. I looked at H&S's burials and found something interesting. A lot of the family is buried at Curd Cemetery - also known as Harlow's Chapel and Sam Slaughter Cemetery. Richard and wife are not there, only their daughter. Now this little unnamed girl died in July 1907, but she is not buried there, at least there is no stone. But, the other daughter of Richard is buried there and she is named Will Alice. She is shown with no birth date given, but died on 6 Jan 1903. So, I checked Hatcher & Saddler's records and found her ---- but her date from the funeral home register shows her dying 6 January 1906, age 3 years. She is shown as the daughter of Richard (Dick) and Puss Quigley and lived 5 miles north of Glasgow. Dr. J S Durrett was the attending physician. She was shown buried 7 Jan 1906 at the Haiden Curd Cemetery. So - if the other little girl died in 1907, she is not recorded and there is a 3-year difference in the death dates of her sister. There could possibly be an error in the reporting of the case, but it would be doubtful and the funeral home records at this time were recorded in huge volumes, in chronological order. The stone could also have been miscopied. Genealogy can be confusing, can't it? Thanks again Wendy!
