Glasgow - George Bryant "Earl" Brooks [photo], 77, of Glasgow died Monday, July 11, 2011, at his home after an illness. He was born in Barren County, son of the late Barney and Trevalle Davis Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a self employed small engine and lawn mower repairman and a woodworker. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Jean Coons Brooks; one son Gary Stephen Brooks (Marsha) of Merrillville, Ind.; one daughter, Karen Skolfield of Hixson, Tenn; two grandchildren, Rickey Brooks (Amanda) and Bryan Brooks both of Glasgow; one great-granddaughter, Makayla Brooks; a step great-grandson, Dakota Ballard and a brother, Milton Brooks of Glasgow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Lee Brooks and a sister-in-law Gracie Brooks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Glasgow (KY) Daily Times, Wednesday, 13 July 2011, p.
