Glasgow - Douglas Rice Perkins [photo], 87, of Glasgow died Saturday, July 9, 2011. He was the son of the late Preston L. and Mary Averitt Perkins. He was a World War II Marine Veteran where he served on several islands including Iowa Jima and occupied Japan. He married Linda Ladd Perkins on June 3, 1949. He was a field representative for Dean's milk company for 40 years. After retirement he was a life guard at the Barren County YMCA until he was 80 years old. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Besides is wife he is survived by four children, Larry Douglas Perkins and his wife Vicky, Leslie Royce Perkins and his wife Melissa, Lonnie Lee Perkins and his wife Patty and Lynn Perkins Peterson and her husband Clark; 10 grandchildren, Dana Thomas, Caroline Perkins, Rebecca Perkins, Leah Perkins, Preston Perkins, John Perkins, Mark Perkins, Justin Peterson, Gabrielle Peterson, Joshua Peterson; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Thomas and one sister, Nell Perry. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV providing military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.lm. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be donations to the Barren County YMCA.
