Jerry Richard Whitlow Sr [photo-Black], 65, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green. The Glasgow native retired after 29 years of service to the City of Bowling Green's Maintenance Department. He joined Hopewell Baptist Church at an early age. He served during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion. Jerry was well known as the "Master DJ" and he spent many years sharing his love for music as a disc-jockey. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Whitlow and Anna Ferguson Whitlow and a sister, Joann Huffman. Survivors include three daughters, Tisha Barnett, Jerrica W. Rice and Thea Renee Whitlow all of Bowling Green; one son: Jerry Whitlow Jr. of Cave City; a stepson, Mark Whitlow of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Xavier and Anaya; three sisters, Alma Dickerson, Diane Lewis, Delores (Albert) Henderson all of Bowling Green; one brother, Donald Lee Whitlow of Bowling Green; uncles, Frank Whitlow of Bowling Green and Jimmy D. Ferguson of Indianapolis, Ind.; an aunt, Mary Catherine Clayton of Glasgow; a brother-in-law, George Dickerson of Adairville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special friends were the late Frank Smith, Virgil Bunton and Rev. Tommy Murrell all of Bowling Green. Arrangements are being handled by Burnam & Son Mortuary, Inc. in Bowling Green, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at noon at Burnam & Son Mortuary, Inc. Military honors and interment will be at Brock Beery Veterans Cemetery in Bowling Green.
