Undated Glasgow KY newspaper. GOOD CITIZEN PASSES AWAY. Mr. S. H. Franklin dies At Community Hospital After Short Illness. Mr. Sam H. Franklin died at the Community Hospital, Tuesday morning at 1:30, at the age of 70 years. Mr. Franklin was in active business until a few weeks ago, when he suffered a breakdown with a complication of diseases, which baffled the best medical skill, and he failed to rally. He was born and reared at Fountaun Run, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Franklin, and is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mary Barr, and seven children: Mrs. Howard Hayes of Gamaliel; Mrs. A. F. Harlin of Greensbori, N. C.; Mrs. G. A. Fogleman and Mr. Clay Franklin of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Evans of Bowling Green; Mrs. Howell Pedigo and Mr. Sam Franklin, Jr., of this place. Two sisters also survive: Mrs. Nannie Downing of Fountain Run and Mrs. Max B. Harlin of Bowling Green. HIs only brother, the late Mr. Ben Franklin died 23 years ago Monday. Mrs. Charles Goodman and Miss Clay Franklin of this place are nieces. Mr. Franklin had been in active business all his life, first in his own county, where he made a success, and later became a member of the firm of the Barren County Grocery & Hardware Co., in this place, in which he had a leading part in its management. He was a successful businessman because he was industrious, had a keen insight to business and had the unbounded confidence of all who knew him. Mr. Franklin was a devout member of the Baptist Church, and was one of the Trustees of the property of the Church and had a leading inhfluence in his church as well as the entire community. His passing leaves a vacancy in the business interests of Glasgow which can easily be felt. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church yuesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. A. Gaines, and burial followed in the Glasgow Cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, of which the deceased was an honored member.
