Glasgow - Judge Glenn McDonald, 76, retired judge, loving husband and father, and explorer of back roads and country lanes, passed away surrounded by family in Glasgow, Ky., June 19, 2011. He was born a few miles away in Burkesville, Ky., on May 20, 1935, the second of two children born to Margie and Charlie McDonald. He moved to Louisville in 1964 to attend the University of Louisville School of Law at nights while working at Dupont. He received his Juris Doctorate and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 1963. Glenn was elected (appointed) Quarterly Court Judge in 1970, presiding over the newly created Ecology Court as the first Ecology court judge in America. He was elected as County Commissioner in 1972 and served on the Jefferson County Fiscal Court until 1978 when he was elected to the Jefferson District Court bench, where he served until he retired in 1998. He then took to the road, traveling the country for small towns and villages, collecting antique toys and novelties. He served on the Board of the Antique Toy Collectors of America. Preceding him in death are his mother and father, and sister Lois Powell. He is survived by his wife, Alice, his daughter Michel McDonald, and his nephews Brett, Richard, Mark and Timothy Powell and great nieces Meagan, Curry, Joshua, Jesse, Mikayla and Alex Powell. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time for service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kid's Hope, c/o First United Methodist Church, 500 S.
