This Indenture made and entered into This 15th day of February 1873 between Sarah GOODEN, J. L. HERREN & Frances J. Herren of the first part and Elizabeth MANN of the Second prt all of the County of Barren State of Kentucky. Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of two Hundred & Sixty Dollars evidenced by the promissory note of the said J. W. Mann at twelve months with interest at ten per cent the parties of the first part have this day sold and by these presents Grant bargain sell & convey to the party of the Second part one undivided halfe of a certain Tract of Land lying in the County of Barren on the waters of Beaver Creek and Bounded as follows. Beginning at a steak in the Edmonton road SPOTTSWOOD Corner thence S10E139 Poles to 3 hickorys thence N80E52 poles to a Steak at Pointers Thence N20E70 Poles to a red oak thence N53W117 2/3 Poles to a Steak in Spottswood line thence S36W9 Poles to the Beginning Containing fifty one Acres to have and to hold free from the Claims of the parties of the first part and they agree to Warrand and forever defend the right and title to the party of the second part for ever a lien retained on the land for the payment of the purchase money. Given under our hand the day & date above written. This deed only conveys Sarah Goodens dower interest in the undivided half of the land hereby conveyed, and she retains her dower in the unsold half. /s/ Sarah (X) Gooden (her mark), John L.
