Good morning on Martin Luther King Day! Several have asked - I will be starting on the puzzlers again soon. I have been working on the death certificate project most of the time. The response has been wonderful to put it mildly and I am working on the final phase ... this will take awhile. I'm thrilled to report that 102 counties are entirely done out of 120 in the volunteer stage. I am waiting for 18 counties which have been assigned. If you took a county and are unable to complete it, please let me know so I can turn it over to another volunteer. I know life catches up with us sometimes and I will not be upset if your schedule keeps you from completing your county. I am so proud of all of you! I'll be back tomorrow hopefully so have a good day! First - the computer is purring again ... an easy fix for something that looked ominous. Status report on the Spanish Influenza pandemic: Only three counties are unclaimed out of 120! 92 counties are in and I'm working on them. Out of the unfinished counties, I'm waiting on about 22 for completion by the volunteers. Some are in process, some have not been started. I'm hoping to finish up stage one very soon and then I will be formatting so each county will look like the other. I am SO thankful for all the hours the volunteers have put in!!! The three counties unclaimed are McLean, Martin and Morgan. Thanks!!! I need help on a Bybee family and hoping that one of you ties in. This is for a lady seeking membership in the DAR and needing concrete proof. Here's the line: John Bybee b Fluvanna Co VA ca 1735; md Elizabeth "Betsy" McCann ca 1763 same. Came to Barren Co ca 1799. Died ca 14 Apr 1821. Named his children as McCann, Nancy, Buford, Byram, JOHN, Delila, Betsy and William. No info needed here. John Bybee, son of above, born ca 1766 Fluvanna Co VA. Md 6 May 1791 Elizabeth "Betsy" Kelley (of variant spellilngs) in Franklin Co VA or KY. Died Apr 1821. Executors: Sherrod and Lee Bybee (sons). Cites "my other children". Possible children: Sherod, Lee, Buford, Betsy, Byron, Delilah, JOHN and Polly. Questionable on children's names. John Bybee born 17 Jan 1801 or 1803 Barren Co. Married Catherine "Kitty" Welch (variant spellings) 23 Feb 1819. She supposedly from NC, father James Welch. He and wife and family moved to MO. What is needed. Is this last John the son of John and Elizabeth Kelley? Too many sons of the same names! We've checked deeds, wills, everything available and cannot prove that this last John was the son of John and Welch and was one of "my other children" . Does anyone have any information on this youngest John to tie him to John and Welch? Thanks! Computers are wonderful things. Computers can drive one crazy. I am limited as present on what I can do as somehow my system had a major hiccup and I am unable to access the WWW. Something about not connecting to a proxy server. My tech friend/repairman will be here sometime in the next two days; my system might have to take a vacation to the shop if he can't find the problem and a major overhaul has to be done. Thus, if I do not post tomorrow for for a few days - I'm ok! I have a laptop but seldom use it and very little is on it in the way of files that I use daily for these posts. This will cause no posting to KYBIOGRAPHIES or KYRESEARCH until the critter is fixed.
