Billy was a farmer and a veteran serving in the U. S. Army. He had attended the Lick Branch Cumberland Presbyterian Church. GLASGOW - Bobby Landrum Poland, 78, of Glasgow, [photo] went Home to meet his Heavenly Father, February, 14, 2014 at his residence. He was the son of the late Stanley Sheridan Poland and Nina Valeen Newport Poland from Tompkinsville, KY. Bob retired from General Telephone after 31 years of service, and was a retired bus driver from the Glasgow Independent School System after 21 years. He was an avid sports fan and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed helping and coaching with the Glasgow Little League program, but most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife: Mary Ann Poland; four children: Terri Elmore, Jeff Poland and his wife Sherry, Jerry Poland, Tammie Workman and her husband Jeff; seven grandchildren: Lindsey Elmore, Whitney Elmore, Scout Thompson, Drake Poland, Chloe Poland, Jackson Poland, and Blade Workman. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother: Bill Poland. Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Born on March 30, 1955 in Glasgow, KY she was born to the union of the late Lawrence Huffman, Jr. & Velma Travis Huffman, she was the third of six children. Charlotte professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Fred K. Haynie. She attended Glasgow High School. After high school she was united in holy matrimony to the late William "Donnie" Mattingly. To this union two children were born, they were blessed with a son Trevino and a daughter Shanika. She was a dedicated wife and a loving mother. Charlotte and her family later moved to Lexington, KY. She was an employee at Marathon Oil Corporation for over twenty years until her health failed her. Charlotte had a passion for cooking. She enjoyed cooking hearty meals for her family and baking pecan pies was her specialty. She loved spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy! She was a high school cheerleader and member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority at WKU. She was a certified secondary school teacher and worked as a substitute teacher in both the Bowling Green and Metro Nashville school systems. She accomplished much in her varied careers. She acted in plays and commercials in New York City, was a booking agent for musicians in the Bowling Green and Nashville areas and worked with major country music producers in Nashville. After working in reservations management for several major hotels in Nashville, Judith returned to Bowling Green to work at Western Kentucky University. At WKU, she was first an academic advisor in the Advisement and Retention Center, then became the Academic Advisor for the WKU football team. She served in this capacity throughout the 1990s under Coach Jack Harbaugh. Before she retired for health reasons in 2001, she had become WKU's Athletic Tutoring Coordinator. In her college days, Judith was active in the Civil Rights Movement and participated in many of the major protests, marches and demonstrations held throughout the country during the 1960s and early 1970s. Throughout her life, she maintained the family tradition of supporting equal rights and the moral treatment of others. She also had a lifelong interest in animal rights and the Humane Society of the United States was one of her favorite charities. She both volunteered and worked at the Bowling Green Human Society Shelter at various times. Her last two canine adoptions are two surviving German Shepherds, Rayna and Roxie (both rescue dogs), who miss her greatly. Judith's favorite hobbies included watching TCM movies, following all forensic science TV shows, reading mystery novels and studying books about the history of Hollywood, about which she had an encyclopedic memory. In the fair weather, she also enjoyed tending the home flower gardens that she designed. If she had live! d longer, she intended to volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Judith is survived by her husband, James W. Grimm, a retired Professor of Sociology at WKU; step-daughter Katherine A. Giles and son-in-law Scott Giles of Smyrna, TN; step-daughter Sarah E. Grimm of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Kaelyn, Keaton and Kohen Giles of Smyrna, TN; cousin Debra Jo Cunningham (husband Martin Huggs) of Queenstown, MD; cousin Marilyn Thomas (husband David Thomas) of Glasgow, KY; and cousin Samuel H. Cunningham (and family) of Chattanooga, TN. Funeral services will 11:00am Thursday, Feb. 13th at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow, with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 16 from 4-8 PM at Vino's restaurant in Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made in Judith's name to the Humane Society of the United States or to the American Cancer Society. Others who wish to do so are invited to contribute to the Judith Chism Grimm Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has been established to assist needy students from Barren and surrounding counties in completing their education at WKU. Mrs. Forrest was a seamstress at Handmacher for 40 years and was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her great grandson.
