GLASGOW - [Photo] Anne Elizabeth (Johnson) Thompson , 88 , passed away Sunday March 9, 2014 surrounded by family at Barren County Health Care Center, Glasgow, Kentucky. Anne Elizabeth was born in Park, Kentucky on April 30, 1925 to the late James Frank and Marcia (Wisdom) Johnson. She was a sister to seven siblings and was preceded in death by all four brothers: William David (Bill) Johnson, Paul Reed Johnson, Frank Cogin (Red) Johnson, and James Courtney Johnson. Known as "Miss Anne" by countless residents and staff of Barren County Health Care Center, she had lived there for the past ten years. She was a champion speller and many times represented BCHCC in competition with area nursing homes. She also attended conferences on the aged as an advocate for nursing home residents. She was an avid reader and graduated from Center High School. She was a veteran, serving in the Women's Army Corps after World War II. She was trained in the psychiatric nursing and continued to work in the field in both Louisville and Hopkinsville after leaving the military. Anne Elizabeth married Lilburn Thompson, later in life, and lived on his family farm in Christian , County. Upon Marriage, she joined the Little River Church of Christ of Hopkinsville, KY. However, the Park United Methodist Church remained close to her heart as home church to several generations of the Johnson family. Later, she returned to the family farm at Park to live with her brother Paul until his passing. Anne Elizabeth's twin sister, Mary Eugenia Hiser and her oldest sister, Emily Montrose Divan, along with numerous nieces and nephews, great-neices and great-nephews mourn her passing. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday , at Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave, KY. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Winn Funeral Home Thursday March 13, 2014 with Rev. He was born April 10, 1926 in Cumberland Co. to the late Edward & Lizzie Pharis Burchett. He was the beloved husband of Betty Hunley Burchett who he was married to for 60 years. He proudly served his country as an Army Sergeant in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946, receiving two bronze battle stars along with other metals. He retired in Louisville, KY from Reynolds Metals after 30 years of service. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Rick Burchett and wife Martha of Louisville, KY, a sister Jewell Myers and husband William of Burkesville, KY and several nieces & nephews. She is survived by a son Rodger Elmore of Glasgow; 2 daughters Willie Elmore McGinley and Judy Elmore both of Athens, GA; a step-daughter Margaret Branstetter of Charleston, SC; grandchildren Chip McGinley of Athens, GA, Wes Elmore and Katie Minton both of Glasgow; step-grandchildren Wanda Wiley of Bowling Green and Terry Branstetter of Summersville, SC and her great-grandchildren Linkin Minton, Landon Minton, Layke Elmore all of Glasgow and Mara McGinley of Athens, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Elmore and a daughter Wini Elmore King. Funeral services will be 2pm Friday, March 7th at the A. F. GLASGOW - Dewey F. (Frank) Ramsey, 90, Glasgow, [photo] died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lydia Pearl Adams Ramsey. He was a retired brick layer and a member of the Shiloh General Baptist Church. Survivors include his God-Son: Steve Williams; two granddaughters: Krystal Williams and her husband Kirk; and Celesta Williams all of Glasgow; two great-granddaughters: Saylor and Saydie Williams; one sister-in-law: Mintie Basham of Albany, KY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Haley Ramsey and his God-Daughter: Jeanie Williams. CAVE CITY - Harriet Wachholder, 71, Cave City, lost her battle with lung cancer on Sunday, March 02, 2014 at T J Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow. She was born March 16, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Nathan and Violet Bort Gross. She and her husband James moved to Cave City in 1995. She was employed at various jobs including Watermill Restaurant, TJ Samson Community Hospital, Home Instead and the Senior Center. She was a member of the Point of Grace Church in Glasgow. Survivors include her husband, James Wachholder; two daughters, Sherri and Kathy; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a sister Liela. Funeral services will be at 1 PM Thursday, March 6th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City with burial in the Cave City Cemetery. She was born in Metcalfe County the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Spears Shirley. Her husband was the late William Isaac "Ike" Chenoweth. Mrs. Chenoweth was a former employee of Shirley Furniture, Goodyear Tire and New Farmers National Bank in Glasgow. She was a member of the Refuge Church of Christ. She is survived by her son Gary Chenoweth and wife Elaine of Glasgow; 4 grandchildren Jason (Judy) Chenoweth of Russell Springs, Stacia (Mark) Sharff of Lexington, Greg Bartley of Glasgow and Steven (Jenette) Bartley of Glasgow; 5 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Bush died Sunday at Good Samaritan of UK Health, Lexington. A native of Glasgow, Kentucky he was an IT Project Manager for Hewlett Packard and then worked for Commonwealth of Ky for thirty years. He served as corporal in the United States Marine Corp and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church, Glasgow. He was the son of Chester Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Lyons Bush and was preceded in death by a son, Justin Sean Bush. Survivors include his wife Terry Bush, Frankfort; daughters Melinda (Brent) Simpson and Emily (Jason) Fint, Frankfort; son Nathan (Rachel) Bush, Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Tyler Fint, Jakob Bush, Joshua Simpson, Olivia Simpson, Benjamin Silas Bush, Cordelia Dae Bush and Natalie Lyons Fint. Pallbearers will be "a friend," Brent Simpson, Nathan Bush, Tyler Fint, Sean Martin and James C. Fint, III. His grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.
