GLASGOW - [photo]. Edwin Neil Norris 91 of Glasgow died Friday, May 09, 2014 at his home. He was born September 6, 1922 in Glasgow, KY, the son of the late Robert Harry Sr. and Caroline Compton Norris. Mr. Norris was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy. Serving as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force during WWII, Mr. Norris piloted a B-17 based in England. Following his discharge, Mr. Norris graduated from Vanderbilt University. On June 15, 1958, he married Jo Ann Landrum Norris who preceded him in death in 2007.. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert H. Norris, Jr. and Honey Norris. Mr. Norris was a partner in R.H. Norris and Sons Supply. He was also actively involved in beef and pork production in Barren County and most recently owned and operated Trojan Trail Self-Storage. Mr. Norris was a founding member of the Glasgow Municipal Airport, serving on its Board of Directors from January 1958 to December 1987. He also served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank and Trust Co./Trans Financial Bank for 27 years from 1965-1992 and T. J. Samson Community Hospital Board of Directors for 33 years, retiring as its Vice-Chairman in 1997. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Norris Bartley of Glasgow and his son, John Franklin Norris and wife, Laura of Englewood, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Norris, Robert Harry Norris II, and Victoria Yvonne Bartley. Mr. Norris chose cremation and his remains will be interred at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Glasgow Saturday, May 24th at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 PM until time for the service. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dixie grew up in Greenville, MS and was a graduate of the Bowling Green Business College. She worked for over 25 years at the Barren County Child Support Office, serving the administration of four county attorneys. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Open Door Sunday school class, a member of the Chancel choir and Hand bell choir and the Kiononia Circle. She is survived by 2 sons Steven Douglas Atwell and wife Melony of Bowling Green and Russell Alan Atwell and wife Tammy of Park City; 4 grandchildren Megan, Evan, Morgan and Tyler Atwell; a brother Martin Pickett Myers III of Greenville, MS and a sister Rebecca Carnes of Springfield, TN. GLASGOW - Mabel Irene Flint 96 died Monday, May 5, 2014 at the NHC Healthcare facility in Glasgow, KY. She was born September 14, 1917 in Grafton, W. VA to Eva and Harrold Anderson. She attended Summit Park School and graduated salutatorian from Victory High School in Clarksburg, W. VA. In 1936 she married Ogden Bailey Flint of Clarksburg, W. VA. The couple gave birth to three children: Dorothy Jean who died at birth, Nancy Elaine and Harold Dayton. After the dislocations of World War II, in 1945, the family took up residency in Louisville, KY. For 20 years she worked in Stewart's Dept. Store located at 4th and Walnut Streets. She was a member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church and later the Walnut St. Baptist Church. At Hazelwood she served as an officer in the Cradle Roll. While at Walnut Street she was an active member in the Oasis Club and the Friendship Club. She was predeceased by her husband (1989) and her son-in-law, Karl Herbert Weis (2006). She is survived by 2 children Nancy Weis of Glasgow, KY and Harold Flint and his wife Susan of Glen Ridge, NJ; a granddaughter Karla and her husband C.J. Halleron of Louisville, KY and two grandsons Peter and Nick Lang of Glen Ridge, NJ. Services will be 1pm Friday, May 9th in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
