    3. Many times we are frustrated when we hear that the records we so desperately need no longer exist since the courthouse burned. Some lost just some of their records. I thought I would list here some of those courthouses in the area of research in south central KY and if they had a disaster - whether fire or other cause. I will show the year that each courthouse was finished and open for business, then any disasters that occurred. Adair County: First courthouse was finished in 1806 and the 2nd in 1884. No disasters. Allen County: 1st - 816; t2nd - 1903; 3rd - 969. Disaster: 1902 Barren County: 1st - 1800; 2nd - 1802; 3rd - 1806; 4th - 1839; 5th - 1896; 6th - 1965; 7th - remodeling. The Court house now only houses the Judicial Center and Circuit Clerk's offices; the County Clerk's offices are across the street in a new building. Disasers: None. . Cumberland County: 1st - 1800; 2nd - 1858; 3rd - 1868; 4th - 1934. Disasters: 1865, 1933. Edmonson County: 1st - (no date); 2nd - 1873. Disasters: None Green County: 1st - 1796; 2nd - 1804; 3rd - 1931. Disasters: None. Hart County: 1st - 1821 - 2nd - 1893; 3rd - 1928. Disaster: 1928. Logan County: 1st - 1793; 2nd - 1822; 3rd - 1904. Disasters: None Metcalfe County: 1st - 1860; 2nd - 1869; 3rd - 1968. Disasters: 1850's, 1868 (?) Monroe County: 1st - 1823; 2nd - 1865; 3rd: 1888; 4th - 1976. Disasters: 1863, 1888. Warren County: 1st - 1798; 2nd - 1805; 3rd - 1811; 4th - 1868; 5th - 1968. Disasters: 1864 Note: Some of these later dates were remodeling. GLASGOW - [photo]. Mr. Fred Serra, Jr., age 75, of Glasgow, Kentucky, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born in Nassau County, New York on Wednesday, March 15, 1939, the son of the late Fred Serra, Sr. and Avis Wickham Serra of New York. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was a Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran of the U. S. Army and U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Cumberland Lodge #413 F. and A. M. and a lifelong police officer. He was a member of the Military Police, a sheriff in Maryland and an officer in the surrounding areas of Burkesville, Glasgow and Cave City Police Departments, having served as an officer of the Glasgow Police Department since 1978 and attaining the rank of captain after twenty-five years of service. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Branham Serra of Glasgow, Kentucky, whom he married on Tuesday, March 19, 1974, two sisters, Arleen (Russ) ! Seymore of Florida and Audrey Weber of New York, three sons, Andy (Melinda) Brueggeman of Colorado, John Carter of Glasgow, Kentucky and Grady Jr. (Donita) Butler of Glasgow, Kentucky, two daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Kearns of Illinois and Menna Carter of Glasgow, Kentucky, seven grandchildren, Kayla Brasher, Kristen Kearns, Grace, Cora and Peyton Butler, John and Jacob Carter and one great-grandchild, Isaac Brasher. Fred's greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Glasgow, Kentucky with Bro. Ricky Proffitt officiating. Memories and reflections were shared by his granddaughter, Kayla. Special music and singing provided by Libby Mullinix. Burial was in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, Kentucky. Casket Bearers and Honorary Casket Bearers were members of the Barren County Sherriff's Department, the Cave City Police Department, Glasgow City Police Department and Bar! ren County EMS Services. The Casket Bearers were Chief Guy Turcotte, M ike Gibbon, James Duff, Kent Keen, James Duff, Terry Flatt and Mike Swift. The Honorary Casket Bearers were Tommy Garrett, David Denton, Bob Hunt, Jamie Casteel, Jeff Wright, Jimmy Smith and Daryl Smith. The Honor Guard from the Glasgow City Police Department performed the graveside and flag presentation services. Professional services provided by Norris-New Funeral Home of Burkesville, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harvey Allen Nichols and a son Ronnie Nichols. Mrs. Shipley was a farmer and a homemaker, an avid fan of country music and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. STE. MAIRE, IL. - William E. Green, Jr. age 81, of Ste. Marie, IL passed away at 10:35 PM - Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM - Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the New St. Peter Cemetery in Newton, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Arlene (Seggerson) Bayer on March 17, 1988 and she survives. William spent his life working in the oilfields. He worked for many years as manager at Parrish Oil. He stayed in the fields after retirement drilling water wells with Green Water Well Service. He was a member of the Petroleum Club. William enjoyed gardening, tinkering around as a self taught mechanic. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren attending baseball and softball games, giving 4-wheeler or tractor rides around the yard. She was born in Metcalfe County the daughter of the late Garnett and Violet Neal Scroggy. Mrs. Forrest was employed as one of the first instructors for the Glasgow School for Practical Nurses, now a part of SCKTC, and retired as the director in 2002 after 45 years of service. She was active in many professional medical associations as a member and past-president. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow. She is survived by her husband Carl Kenton Forrest; 1 daughter Pam Bulle and husband Freddie of Glasgow; a grandson Kent Bulle of Glasgow; her sister-in-law Jean Scroggy of Sulphur Well; cousins Mary Rose McCoy, Karen Rector and Janet Kinslow and nieces and nephew, Shane Coffey, Todd Scroggy and Dawn Harbison.
