Lusana "Lou" Eudy BROWN was born 1858 in Clinton, KY. Daughter of William Harrison Eudy and Lucinda Brown. Married David Daniel Brown on 24 July, 1877 in Celina, Clay County, TN Supposedly Lusana was Daniel Brown's niece. Also, she supposedly died in the poor house or county farm in Barren County. A relative spoke with a man who said he worked at the county farm and knew Lou Brown. He said she died at the farm and he helped bury her there in 1935. KY death certificate does not bear this out. It says that she died in Glasgow, Barren County on June 21, 1938 and was buried in Baldock Cemetery on June 21st. Does anyone have any information about a county farm or poor house in Barren County in the 1930's? Is Baldock Cemetery where these people were buried? It seems odd that she died and was buried the same day. The filing date of the death certificate is also June 21st. Lusana Eudy Brown was my great-great grandmother. Thanks for any information anyone might have. Mary (Brown) Flowers Midlothian, TX
From another list - thought you'd like to see this too ... Sandi FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 22, 2007 National Personnel Records Center Opens more than Six Million New Military Personnel Files St. Louis, MO * The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) will open for the first time all of the individual Official Military Personnel Files (OMPFs) of Army, Army Air Corps, Army Air Forces, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard military personnel who served and were discharged, retired or died while in the service, prior to 1946. Collectively, these files comprise more than six million records. This is the second step in the progressive opening ofthe entire paper and microfiche OMPF collection of over 57 million individual files. Additional military personnel records will be made available to the public each year through 2067 until the entire collection is opened. These archived files are treasured by family members, historians, researchers, and genealogists. Contained in a typical OMPF are documents outlining all elements of military service, including assignments, evaluations, awards and decorations, education and training, demographic information, some medical information and documented disciplinary actions. Some records also contain photographs of the individual and official correspondence concerning military service. To view an original record, individuals may visit the NPRC Archival Research Room in St. Louis, MO. Telephone is 314-801-0850. Research room hours are10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time Tuesday through Friday. Good morning! This is going to be a hectic week; the SCK Historical and Genealogical Society meeting will be this Thurs evening, 7pm at the Cultural Center. Our speaker will be Robert Lessenberry who will be speaking on the railroad history here. He is the president of the Glasgow Railway Company and has a list of "credentials" that is extremely impressive - a wonderful speaker with a vast background of accomplishments. On Nov 2nd, I'll be speaking at Mammoth Cave and Nov 3rd is the Green Co KY Book Fair in Greensburg where I will also be in attendance with many of my books. Thankfully, a genius here solved my computer problems in 2 minutes over the telephone when another computer repair place wanted my computer for 2-3 days and $100 an hour! Charles has posted the puzzler for the week. There was only one correct guesser for last week's genealogy puzzler; many of you didn't even try - many got it 1/2 right! This week's puzzler should be a snap for most of you and I'm anticipating a large number of guessers. Click on the URL in my signature line called gensoup to give it a try. For the brickwall queries; all the rest of the alphabet is allowed this week - be sure it has a connection to the counties on this list. Put Brickwall as part of the subject line. Remember, even if you don't get immediate help on your query - these are archived at rootsweb and will be available for years for those searching a particular surname. Have a great week! In his 1841pension application for service in the 22nd Regiment of United States Infantry in the War of 1812, my GGGGrandfather, John WOOTEN, stated that when he left his home in Cumberland County, Ky. in about 1815, he had "moved to GREEN RIVER; staid (sp) there about three years, lost his wife, and then come to the State of Ohio." I have been told that "Green River probably refers to the Green River. I do not believe so. I do believe that there was once a community called "Green River" somewhere in Southern Kentucky. I have recently found several mentions of "GREEN RIVER" on the KYBARREN mailing list. I hope these listings refer to the "GREEN RIVER" that I am looking for, and that someone on this list can tell me where it is located. Listings follow: James M CULP paid for 52 acres, Green River Knobs; side of Henry EUBANK, 21 Aug 1837. James HARRAD/HARRIS?, 250 acres, Green River. Hugh McCOMBS, `130 acres, Green River.
