Can anyone tell me where on a current map where Blue Spring Grove is? Also on a 1784 map from KHS, a place called Blue Spring is shown between Little and Big Barren Rivers south of Green River. It is the intersection of three tails. Is that the present Glasgow? If not what is it called today? Hello folks, Spring at last - for most of us - some of my friends are still battling flood waters. May God help them.... I just finished another Buford Website up-date and want to invite you all to come by and take a look. I reconstructed another Buford line that encompass eight states - from Florida to Kansas and Texas. Over 40 pages in my Microsoft Word. It is a monster and took me a long time in researching. I want to thank all of you who gave me a helping hand along the way - you know who you are.... Hope you all had a Great Winter and are now starting to enjoy Spring. We here in Colorado have sure had our share of the soft White stuff. Snow fall this year is over 200% of the norm. Our rivers will be crowding their banks soon. Take care everyone. Fern K. I've received a lot of good guesses on the puzzler of the week. A hint. I am not looking for: respondent, bad guy, accused, or defendant. There are 2 words that I can accept and I've used a variation of one of the words several times in the past few weeks. This word has been used in legal circles for hundreds of years and still is in use. Keep trying!! For a few weeks, I'm going to post information taken from what is known locally as the "Jimmy Simmons" papers. For many years, Jimmy, as history teacher at Glasgow High School, had his students do their family trees. These records are a compilation of many years of trees submitted by various students. Note: Information provided cannot be taken as totally correct. Some students did an excellent job - some didn't work as hard! But, it is an excellent starting point for research and may be of help. Any comments, additions, corrections appreciated and may be post to the list. I will not list any living individuals or those who might be living. THOMAS ROGERS (1435-1489) md. Catherine de COURTNEY. Edmund Rogers, Revolutionary War soldier was only 21 when he became a member of the military staff of the Governor of VA. Toward the end of the war, he replaced his father, George Rogers, as a dispatch carrier for Gen. George WASHINGTON. Following the peace treaty of 1783 he came to KY accepting the mission assigned to him. He had two military grants signed by Patrick HENRY, Governor of Virginia. He began surveying in the fall of 1783. He settled on a tract of land which he later laid out as the town of Edmonton in 1800 (then in Barren Co). It was his desire to make Edmonton the County seat of Barren Co. He was 46 years old when he married. to be continued next week. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Transcribed documents show: Married Sally (Sarah) Gill daughter of William Gill in 1792 Nelson County Granted 200 acres in Blue Spring Grove in 1796 First son, William, born in 1798. William Gill had a brother John Gill also in Kentucky, maybe a different county. We suspect that John was associated with the Gills in Virginia before coming over to present Kentucky.
