    1. [KYBARREN] BARREN CO EXECUTOR BONDS 1848-1860
    2. Sandi Gorin
    3. I just finished another book which will be my last for a time. I am going to be quite tied up on a large research job and a book order from the St. Louis Public Library for 65 of my books. This is the library, where, in 1970 I started on this crazy thing called genealogy! Here is the description of the next book; I'm working the old records right now. If you would like to see the index, as usual, write me privately. I'll reply as I can between copying books on a very, very old copy machine that - like the old airplanes which I piloted in the past - is held together with bailing wire and chewing gum! Sandi Barren Co Executor Bonds 1848-1860. The first book kept, these are photocopies of the original bonds for those dying with a will. Shown is the name of the deceased, the executor(s), bondsmen; some have the amount of bond which indicates the size of the estate. Has original signatures. An important research tool when relatives or friends are mentioned as the executor or bondsmen. It also gives a close date of death when none can be found in other records. 132 pages including a full-name index. By 1826 he was living in Hart, Kentucky with a wife and two children and either his mother or mother-in-law. I know that he married Sarah "Sallie or Sally" Prewit/Prewitt/Pruitt but cannot find out who her parents were. The 1830 census for Hart County shows that there were Prewits on either side of Constantine Perkins. George Prewit and John Prewit. John was born in Rockcastle, Barren, Kentucky in 1805. John Prewit and Constantine took their families to Missouri in the 1840's and lived on adjoining farms. John Prewit's son, John Alexander Pruitt married Constantine's daughter, Martha Ann. If any one out there is related to this family and has information on Sally's parents, or more information on the family it would be greatly appreciated. 3. Since many of you are coming up with the same answer to the puzzler - let me give you a clue. There was nothing wrong with the Executor named in the will. He wanted to serve, he was qualified to serve. he didn't die or skip the country ... but there was something else causing an Administrator to be appointed instead. That's why I'm looking for - what could have caused it? Thanks, Sandi Sandi's Puzzlers: http://www.gensoup.org/gorinpuzzles/index.php Sandi's site: http://ggpublishing.tripod.com/

    1. [KYBARREN] IN CLOSING MONDAY 12 SEPT 2011
    2. Sandi Gorin
    3. Greetings on the day following our remembrance of 911. We will never forget. Charlie has posted the puzzler for the week; let's see how you do on this one! This is an important thing for us to know. A little tip: When looking at the marriage records for your ancestors, consider the fact that they might have been married before and that the last name of the bride might not be her maiden name. During certain times frames in the past, there were forms that the clerk was supposed to fill out indicating if this was the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. marriage. But they weren't very good at keeping these records! If the clerk did not know the couple, he might assume that Jones was her maiden name - but she might be a Smith, the widow of a Jones. Double check! Sandi Sandi's Puzzlers: http://www.gensoup.org/gorinpuzzles/index.php Sandi's site: http://ggpublishing.tripod.com/

    3. Does anyone know how to find records for the following in Barren County; i.e.The Kentucky State Guard, 3rd Regt, Co. E. Who would I write for more details on this record? "From Commonwealth of Kentucky to Private W. E. TAYLOR, honorable discharge from the State Guard, Co. E. 3rd Regiment, State Militia Grantor DB(Deed Book) 22 p 153" 1885 I'm trying to see if the W.E. Taylor is William Esau Taylor and if so when he enlisted. What records I have found on individual's web sites do not list W. E. Taylor but it is apparent that he did belong to this unit for an honorable discharge to be issued by the State. Thanks for any help.
