Heritage Quest has added new census indexes for the 1860 and 1920 census. This is in addition to the 1810, 1820, 1870 and 1910 indexes already online. These are exact spelling, head of household indexes which are linked to the census images. The images are enhanced so they are usually much better than the microfilm. Besides the census, Heritage Quest has a genealogy library of over 25,00 books, scanned, searchable, and downloadable to your computer. Plus, the Sanborn Insurance Maps for Kentucky (1867-1970) are online. You can use Heritage Quest at the KHS Library or, if you are a member of the Kentucky Historical Society, you can get a password to use from your home computer. You do not have to be a resident of Kentucky to join. The cost of membership is $35 or $25 for seniors and you can join online.
