I do not belong to the Murphys of Anderson County. My Murphys came from Hardin, Nelson and Larue County areas. I live in Shelbyville and have been trying to put together pieces of the Spencer/Anderson Murphys in hopes of somewhere connecting the two Murphy clans. I'd like to be able to add the Anderson Murphys to my tree. I think I can do that through your Charles Burgin that married Lillie Burton Nation. I have Nations in my tree through a cousin of mine. Could you tell me more about your more recent family history so that I can add the Anderson Murphys to my tree? I'd rather work from one tree than have several different ones for the different families. Somehow in all this I think we may be able to learn more about all the families. Many many thanks, Donnie Respond personally if you wish to donn1em@bellsouth.net. My tree Central Kentucky Connections http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=donn1e

You know, just before they flooded Van Buren, my dad took me to see the town. Or what was left of it. I will be in Kentucky next week to see what I can turn up. Thanks.

Some of those Va. Zimmermans translated their German name to the English equivalent: Carpenter. A change, although not a translation is Lederer to Leathers, who were from the Germanna Colony also, as were the Utterbacks. (I think that was Otterbach.) Bob
Given that there were a good many people in the area of Anderson, Mercer and Woodford from the Germanna Colony in Virginia, I suspect that the Cinnamons were originally Zimmermans. Have no proof, but an interesting thing for those interested to pursue. Some Chiltons in that area are desc. from Thomas Chilton and Mildred Zimmerman, both of Culpeper Co. Bob Moore

My father is James Belwood Sparrow, his father was Olus Sparrow, his uncle is John Sparrow all from Spencer County Kentucky. My father always said our branch was originally from Anderson County. I'd like to pick up the search there and trace back to what I suspect is the 13 original colonies, probabley Jamestown Virginia. I would appreciate any help at all.

Alton was at one time a community in the Northern part of Anderson Countywith a public school , post office , ect., but now is just a thick populated voting district with the center being about 4 miles from Lawrenceburg. The Alton Cemetary is pretty good size , and is located on the Old Frankfort Road a bypass was built in 1982 and this road sees very little traffic these days. This section of Old Frankfort road now leaves highway 127 at the Anderson /Franklin county lines and runs about 2 1/2 miles to highway 151 . the cemetary is on the 151 end about a third of the way down just across the road from the Alton School and just down from Alton Christain Church. There are several histories recorded on the Brown family in the book titled History and Families of Anderson County. Good luck LUTHER D.
