She was one of 12 children of Bailey Roach, Sr., and Nancy Perkins of Madison Co., Ky. Her sister, Louisa (1832-1883) never married and lived with Nancy. All 12 were born in Madison Co., on Silver Creek. Two brothers of Nancy lived in Anderson Co - (1) Allen L. Roach (1821-1899) m 1. Amanda Million 2. Mrs. Sarah (Jones) Herndon*, widow of Coleman Herndon* - these Herndons were from Shelby Co. His widow Nancy (Perkins) Roach bc 1788 Louisa Co., Va. and died in Anderson Co., Ky - 19 Aug 1858. She was the daughter of Anthony Perkins and Agatha "Aggy" Pullium You might see on the internet that the wife of Bailey Roach, Sr. was Mary Anthony Perkins - this is incorrect. Also, Bailey is not related to the old Thomas Roach who lived in eastern Madison Co., on the Estill Co. border. I don't have much on the descendants of these folks and would love to know more. Anne

Humblest apologies -- it seems that the church-affiliated cemeteries I mentioned were for the churches themselves, not cemeteries. Did you ever wish that you could just erase an e-mail AFTER it's sent? :( Birchell Coslow
Fir those who are interested, the 9-county Church and Cemetery Locator for central Kentucky (see http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymercer/Locator/ ) lists four Alton cemeteries under that name -- Alton Baptist, Alton Free Will Baptist, Alton Christian, and "Alton Cemetery" (no church connection shown). Dear Friends and Relatives, As some of you know, I've compiled a history of the Bloomfield-Chaplin-Fairfield area with also a sketch of about 115 pioneer families of the area. I think it's going to amount to at least 400 pages. It's being published, sold and distributed by the Nelson Co. Genealogical Society, PO Box 409, Bardstown, KY 40004. At this point I don't know the price nor exactly when it will be ready for publication - perhaps in about two months. I've finished my part and the society is working on the index. The society is not a professional, for-profit publishing company, so they have to limit the copies printed to what they think they can sell. They try to price their books at a minimal level so that as many people as possible can afford them. Therefore, it's useful for them to have some idea ahead of time of the degree of interest. I will not be making anything on the book, and, as I say, I WILL NOT BE SELLING IT OR DISTRIBUTING IT. The small profits go to the society, and they use the money to buy genealogy and local history books for that section of the library, thus helping the researchers who visit Nelson Co. It would be nice if you were to write to them - if you're interested - and ask them to reserve a book for you. That way you'll help them get an idea of how many copies to order from the printer. Below you'll find some brief information about the contents of the book.
