    3. I am stuck on George E Searcy & was hoping someone could help. According to his obit he was born 3 Nov 1870 in Anderson City, Kentucky & Lived there for 34 years. What Township in Anderson Co. is Anderson City? I can't find it anywhere. I guess that Anderson City is the one about 8 miles west of Lawrenceburg. His father should be Charles Searcy but I don't have any information other than he should of died around or just after 1901. I am not sure where he died, I am hoping it was in Anderson Co. George was supposedly the only child that lived some kind of epidemic. Does anyone have access to cemetery records Anderson City? George didn't like talking about his childhood probably because of this. I can send more info if it would help. Thanks for any help. Dennis

    2. Hello, I am writing about the Silas Thompson Cemetery that another researcher was inquiring about. I have a Silas M. Thompson who was born in 1840 in Anderson County, Kentucky. He was the son of Michael Thompson, a shoemaker, who was born in 1805 in Muhlenberg County, Ky. His father was born in Maryland and Mother born in Maryland. He married Eliza Jane Houchin (Hawkins?0 on 21 Mar. 1837. John Stallcup Thompson signed the marriage bond. Michael Thompson was a son of John and Christina (Unknown) Thompson. They also lived in Anderson Co., Ky. I have corresponded with Mr. Wyatt Shely many years ago and he did help me with my Mosley family. Would appreciate any information that anyone could help me with. Thank you in advance. It is possible that John and Christina Thompson also had a son named Silas b. 1791? Thanks again.

    1. [KYANDERS] Cemetery Information Needed
    2. Linda Gudgel Finnell
    3. Hi Folks- I have a researcher friend coming to KY to research her GRIFFEY and WHITENACK lines and visit cemeteries next weekend and she is asking about the location of two cemeteries in Anderson Co. Can someone help me with this? The Silas Thompson Cemetery- She found reference to this cemetery in the manuscript pages (on microfilm from the Family History Center in Salt Lake City) from the DAR Chapter in Lawrenceburg. Dated Dec., 1943, Mrs. James O. Franklin says there are 2 stones on the farm then owned by Mrs. Chester Hawkings, 3 1/2 miles from Lawrenceburg on the road to Glensboro. Apparently there were more graves, but the graveyard was partly destroyed. Old Griffey Farm Cemetery- In an article written by the late Wyatt Shely on the Henry CARDWELL family, dated October 31, 1974, it mentions "a small family graveyard can still be identified on the old GRIFFEY farm (now owned by Norman Barker) a short distance west of Lawrenceburg off Highway 61." If anyone can help with directions or current owners of these properties, it would sure be appreciated. I am sure she is getting all her ducks lines up before she gets here. Sounds like a smart researcher <g>. Many Thanks, Linda Gudgel Finnell (also a GRIFFEY and WHITENACK descendant). --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. My ancestors who were early settlers in Nelson County were Stranges and Ashes who came from Maryland around 1786. One of the women was Anastasia Bird Medley who was the daughter of John Medley and Frances Bird. Is this the same Bird family, and if so where can I find information on them? Also, is the Daviess from Ky. the one Daviess County, Indiana was named for. That is where my Stranges and Ashes went when they left Ky. My maternal great-grandmother was Margaret Ellen Strange who was born in Martin County, Indiana which is next to Daviess County. Bonnie Barnes Worley

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UAB.2ACE/1767 Message Board Post: I have compiled some information that I thought may be useful to anyone who may be searching for Waller O. White of Anderson Co., KY. I found Waller in a Wayne County, Illinois newspaper clipping and I persued to find information about him thinking that he may somehow be part of my White family there in Wayne County. Waller O. White was born about 1830 in Anderson County, Kentucky to Thomas White (b. abt 1806 in VA) and Jane (b. abt 1803 in KY). He is listed with his family in Anderson Co. in the 1850 & 1860 Census (in 1860 he works as a Plasterer). According to Familysearch.org he was married to a George Ann Price in Dec 1860 in Anderson Co., KY. However, for whatever reason he was in Wayne County, Illinois in Aug 1861. A murder took place in Wayne County and Waller was arrested on suspicion. Waller died in the Wayne County jail due to a continued fever on Oct 31, 1861. They never proved he was or was not guilty, but they say that his previous years in Anderson County were of good character. I hope this information (of sad nature) provides some pieces to anyone who may be researching this family. Mary (White) Roark
