    1. Roberts/Robards, Carr, Chapman, Poe, Noel 1800's, 1900's
    2. Hello, I just subscribed to this list and this is a message to introduce myself and send my first query. I am researching Robards/Roberts, Carr, Chapman, Poe, Noel. The Roberts settled in Tyrone, Anderson Co. KY Where my Dad was raised. My Roberts line is: Allison Roberts (my father) m. Louise Durham Merritt William Roberts (my grandfather) m. Goldie Kepler Hezekiah Noel Roberts (great-grandfather) m. Susan Mary Carr, dau of Wm Merritt Carr and Emoline Chapman. Nathaniel Andrew Jackson Robards/Roberts m. Sarah (Sallie) Noel N. A. J. and Sallie Noel above were married at Mundy's Landing. I have learned this is in Woodford, not Anderson Co. but wonder if anyone knows some history on Mundy's Landing. I went there and it is a landing with a big white house. Nearby is a chimney standing where an old house once stood. Please forgive the length of ths message. I had intended to send just a brief intro. but got so excited about this new list. 3. Hi Eleanor -- Sorry, I don't have any of your names in my personal database. However, I'd recommend that you post your question as a query on the Anderson Co. Query Board as well: <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~usgwqury/Ky/Anderson/index.cgi> for additional exposure. The search engine at rootsweb.com is already in operation, and the additional publicity there couldn't hurt. MailList messages are also searchable through rootsweb.com, but not very many people know yet about its availability, or the procedures for doing it. 1. New Bio Board for Anderson County!!
    2. CB Coslow
    3. Hello all: I have just activated a new Biography Board for Anderson County. It's not even linked from the Anderson KyGenweb Page yet, but the URL is: <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~usgwqury/Ky/AndersonBios/index.cgi> for those of you who just can't wait!! Hint, hint!! At the moment, it's totally empty; but with the help of all you good people, it shouldn't take long though to get a good collection of Anderson biographies online. I'm supposed to put up a few myself to serve as examples to follow, but I don't have even a single bio from Anderson Co. to put up right now. So, if anyone else does, you can be first -- if anyone is uncertain how to go about it, let me know and I'll find out for you ASAP if I don't have the answer. Basically, the Bio Board is a part of the Kentucky Query Forum system on Rootsweb now being used for queries and obituaries, and works exactly the same. (I'd recommend caution in posting published materials -- as for the obits, if you're not dead certain it's okay to publish, use abstracts. Usually, they're easier to understand than narratives anyway.) BTW thanks to those of you who have put up obits for Anderson. I was putting up a bunch at one time, but have fallen way behind with guests from Germany. Finally (for the moment), and with some help from Polly Menendez, Ky Archives State Coordinator, I succeeded in obtaining control of the archive Page for Anderson Co: (<http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/anderson/toc.html>). Several of you have sent me text files of materials for posting to the County Archives, and I hope to get them uploaded soon (hang on Diane)!! When the ones I have already are uploaded, I'll be begging for more -- that's supposed to be the lifeblood of genealogy pages, along with queries of course. Thanks for your attention!! CBC

    1. NOTICE: Rootsweb Address Changes
    2. CB Coslow
    3. For those of you who haven't heard already, Rootsweb has a new (bigger, better, and faster) server that just went into operation this morning. The daily outages we've all experienced recently should be a thing of the past! This won't affect our KyAnders List addresses, but it will change the URLs for all the Query and Obituary pages on rootsweb, including those for Anderson County. The new URLs for Anderson: Query Forum: <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~usgwqury/Ky/Anderson/index.cgi> Obituary page: <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~usgwqury/Ky/AndersonObits/index.cgi> Where the old Rootsweb URLs started with http://www.rootsweb .... now they'll start with http://cgi.rootsweb.com/ --> just exchange 'cgi' for 'www'. Everything else is staying the same. And please don't forget to change your "Bookmarks", or "Favorites" -- or whatever you particular browser chooses to call the click thing that allows you to come back again! Any problem, just e-mail me and I'll try to find someone who knows something about these techie things. Hit shore ain't me. <:) CBC

    3. Linda GF -- Please (please!) contact my friend and probable cousin, Carol Burris Garafola of Omaha NE: <[email protected]> on your Burrus/Burris question -- my (our?) Burns and her (our?) Burris lines have been so muddled together in the Washington Co. KY census lists over the years that I've had the poor lady re-engrave her silver and re-etch her crystal already! It's HER maiden name and I feel guilty. Thanks. Birchell Coslow

    1. SURNAMES
    2. Would like to correspond with anyone working on surnames: BURGIN/BURGAN, CASE, WARD, WILLIAMS, WIATT/WYATT,SNIDER, BOWMAN,BURGE,SIMPSON,SPARROW. Some of these names are not direct lines, but I have quite a bit of info on them since they married into BURGIN lines. I would also like to know if anyone can lookup a death or marriage at Anderson County Courthouse. I only get to get over there a couple times a year and I have one that is really "bugging" me. Looking for info on Delila MILLER who married William SNIDER. Marriage lists her mother as Anne FINLEY. I show an Anne FINLEY on the 1850 Anderson Co. Census with no husband, but I also show an Anna MILLER on the 1830 Anderson Co. Census. Don't know if this is same person, since birth dates are a couple years off-but then that happens even when they are the right person. I need to find a marriage of a MILLER and a FINLEY that occurred prior to Delila's marriage in 1846 - and more than likely, after 1830. If anyone has anything on this, would love to hear from you too. Thanks Diane
