My 4th great grandparents are David Harris and Elizabeth "Martha" Hardy, daughter of Solomon Hardy and Martha unknown. David Harris was born between 1760-1769 in Loudoun County, Virginia. They later moved to Bedford County, Virginia and then to Allen County, Kentucky (formed from Warren) where David left his will in Allen County and it was probated 12 Dec 1842. He left children : (1) Amos Harris born 1791 in Va. He died 23 Mar 1863 In Allen Co., Ky. He married Nancy McReynolds. (2) Martha Harris born 1794 in Va. She married Nathan Kinsey Pope. (3) Joel Hardy Harris born 1806 in Va. He died Dec 1853 in Allen Co., ky. He married Sarah Ogles. This couple are my 3rd great grandparents. (4) Elizabeth Harris born 1807 in Va. She died before 1835. She married John Wesley Lysles. (5) Solomon Henry Harris born 1808 and diied 22 Aug 1887 in Allen Co., Ky. (6) Rebecca Harris married Samuel Pope. I am trying to determine my David Harris parents and like one or two generations proving his lineage to Samuel Harris, Sr. and wife Esther unknown who were in Prince William County, Virginia as early as 1740. They were Quakers. Fairfax County was formed from Prince William County in 1742 and Loudoun from Fairfax in 1757. It appears they didn't move but new counties were formed. Their land was on Beaverdam Branch of Goose Creek. Samuel Harris, Sr. died about 14 Mar 1764 in Loudoun Co., Va. He left his wife Esther unknown. His children were : (1) David Harris born ca 1717... may have married Hannah unknown. (2) Joseph Harris born ca 1719 (3) William Harris born ca 1720 who married Hannah Moore. (4) Samuel Harris, Jr. born ca 1721 who married Mary John, daughter of Thomas John. Samuel, Jr. died in 1783. (5) Esther Harris, Jr born Mar 1723/24 who married Henry Brown (6) Ann Harris born ca 1725. It appears I have a generation to hook my David Harris to Samuel Harris, Sr. and Esther unknown through one of their sons David, Joseph, William or Samuel Jr.. They belonged as Quakers to Hopewell Mm and Fairfax MM. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Marianne Dillow Illinois
