Folks, Undoubtedly some of you are subbed to some email lists that discourage postings.?? Some email list?subbers complain their email boxes get cluttered with too many messages.? At the risk of offending some on this list, my response is "That is what the delete key is for".? I delete tons of emails on a daily basis if they don't pertain to me, but sometimes the subject just might be the answer to one of my questions. I do not mind any emails that come through this list if the family names are part of Allen County and/or it's parent counties of Warren, Barren, and breakoff county of Simpson.? And frankly, I prefer?messages to be posted to the email list so the information can be archived for future reference.? Unlike most email lists such as SOKY, anyone interested in Allen Co can go to the Rootsweb.com website, look for the County email list and search?postings for the past 10 years.? There just might be a posting that?was archived?before someone subbed to the list, or a new family name one has just linked to, that might be valuable information. Many times a tidbit of information posted will lead someone to? discover the crack in their brick wall and/or connect to a "cousin" they didn't know existed.? I am not territorial about information nor am I an advocate for postings only by particular people.? I am about sharing, and that is what this email list and any other email list was intended to be, although some lists have changed in their mission over the years.? In all the years of managing this list, I've only had one complaint about postings.?There are over 125 people subbed to this list and it surprises me how few postings occur. And to be blunt, if you don't want to receive emails, then you can unsub from this list by sending an email to kyallen-request@rootsweb.com with the subject heading "unsubscribe".? I want people on this list who are willing to share and correspond with others, and if that is not what you are looking for, then this may not be the list you want to belong to. All I ask is: 1) if the subject of the email content changes from the original message (i.e. Grinstead Cemetery to Hardcastle family), then change the subject heading in the email so those who aren't interested can delete the message prior to opening it if the message does not pertain to their family search.? It is misleading for someone to think a message concerns a Cemetery and instead it's about a particular family and vice versa. 2) the messages pretain to genealogical and/or family research?topics. If you find a website that is helpful, share it.? If you have a research hint, post it.? If you are able to break down a brick wall, share it.? There is nothing more joyful that finding that elusive answer after years of hunting. Regards and Happy Hunting Sharon Tabor List Administrator

I am always disappointed when someone requests to have a reply to a query sent to a personal mailbox...you never know when a connection to your family may be included in a seemingly unrelated answer. I feel left out of the loop.
