Don, I'm sure you know I'm interested not only for access to your site but to learn of your knowledge of the area. When did you pop in? What are your connections? All of my father's lines see to be Warren, Allen, Simpson (barely Barren) and Smith County, Tennessee - perhaps Sumner and a little more. Oh, that's right, Grandma Aramitta (don't mind all the spellings, you'll hardly see it spelled the same way twice was born in Union County, KY for some odd reason. I think the other kids in the family were, too. What the hell was Atwood (Allen) and Mahulda Patterson (probably Simpson but possibly Smith County, TN) doing way up in Boxcar Twp.. Union County, Kentucky having all their kiddies? I would say - I dunno - must be about 50/50 because the Hardcastles were Warren and the Willoughbys were Allen and they are my grandfather and grandmother's lines. Next, Meek/s and Ragsdale. I am stumped on the Ragsdales. I'm good on the old part of the Pattersons and related Tenn. Grinad/Grenade, Sutherland/Southerland lines. Also, the last trace of Mahulda/Huldy I can find is the 1880 census. She simply vanishes. I would just like to visit the poor woman's grave. She is my great-grandmother. There is more to it than this, but hubby Atwood/At/Att died at "Hopkinsville" - the Western Kentucky Lunatic Asylum in 1911. This is one of those things that I dug out of the shallow ground because Aunt (Lassie) Mae, a person I knew all my life and my dad never seemed to be aware Atwood was alive and even living with them during their lifetime. Well, my dad was really too little to remember (both he and Mae are dead.) Humongous mystery - I have my theories. His grave is on the grounds of the now-Western Kentucky State Hospital, but probably unmarked. No funeral, no obituary, nobody took him home to bury him and they didn't return to fill out his death certificate, because it is uffed up. Mine is a private site for residents in a particular part of Warren County. Most, are related one way or another and FULL of local knowledge. Is your Hardcastle surname of Warren Co???
