Richard, What is the Russell line you are researching? Did they come from Macon and Smith Co., TN? If so, then somewhere along the line, we probably have some of the same ancestors. Mine was the John Russell line. John was born 1778 in VA. According to my information he and a brother, Elam came to Smith Co., TN in the early 1800's. He died there in 1851, however it may have been in a part that became Macon County. The only Russell info I have is a Jane Russell born may 13, 1789 in Virginia and died June 6, 1832 in Allen Co Kentucky, She was married to John D. Calvert who was born Jan 5, 1782 in Virginia, married in 1804, and died Feb 10, 1856 in Allen Co Kentucky. John Calvert fought in the waro of 1812 and was with Gen. Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans.
